One of the few days we left our resort we went to Pearl Harbor. Rylan was very inquisitive asking so many questions. He was so bothered that the US was attacked by surprise. Many times he said that he wouldn't have been surprised and they wouldn't have attacked if he was there. Once we got over to the sunken ship he was very upset to see the ship underwater, knowing that hundreds of men's bodies are still down there. Then when we looked at the wall with the list of names I made the mistake of pointing out to Nate a few Taylor names. Of course, he doesn't understand completely that not every Taylor is related to us. So then he ended up more upset. On the boat ride back he cried. I felt so bad that he was that upset, but I know he will always remember this experience. The first few nights back home he had nightmares that planes were dropping bombs on Georgia. He is ok now. He still talks about Japan and we had to tell him Japan is no longer "the bad guy". He is determined to join the military. Of course he still wants to play football in the NFL too.
Here are some great pictures from our day.
