Nana-Napping Update

We finally dropped Nana off at her new home. She wasn't a complete nightmare to get there. She teared up when we first told her because she thought she'd never see the boys again. We reassured her that she would see them and gave her the choice of going on Saturday (the day we told her), or after church/lunch on Sunday. She chose Sunday, so after lunch I brought her all of her clean clothes so she could pack. She told me she was writing a letter to Uncle Bill (her brother-in-law) so he could pick her up. 45 minutes later she's still writing the letter and nothing was packed. I told her that she needed to pack so we could leave. She said that she didn't want to go with us and we could leave her there. I explained it to her again and then she said she wasn't going to take her suitcase. It wasn't until Nate went up there that she actually packed. She seems to play the missing the boy card with me and Nate. If my mom is the only one around she yells at her telling her we can't do this to her and that her friends are going to come get her out when they find out what we've done. Since all of her friends know what we've done, I'm going to have a few of them talk to her on the phone today to be supportive of her moving in there.

My mom, on the other hand, feels guilty leaving her there because Nana is tearing up whenever she talks to me about missing the kids. Nate and I assured her it was most likely an act. She's just trying to get us to not make her move in there. We're heading over there this morning to get her out of her room and to socialize.

Whenever we go there, the boys are an elderly target. Nearly everyone comes over to see them. One of them is kind of scary, she always wants to hug both of them. Of course, Rylan doesn't want to hug some random lady. So then she says she'll cry if he doesn't hug her. Luckily if I suggest a high-five she normally is ok with that. Well, it's off to manicure morning at the assisted living place. Time for Nana to get her nails done.

  1. Sounds like it's going to be a challenge for a little bit, but I'm sure she'll warm up! Praying for you all~~
