Rylan has had a great year in 1st grade. He didn't care for the length of school, but has learned so much this year. From reading better to learning more math and science. He has also done several book reports and presentations. He was loved by his teachers because he's such a rule follower. You tell him once and he does it. He would get so annoyed with the other kids that didn't listen. His teacher this year was too lenient so I realized he definitely needs a stricter teacher that doesn't let kids get away with much. Since he was so good, his teacher always put the troublemakers next to him. He hated that too, so I had to say something this semester. He felt like he was being punished for being good. She did move him by his friend's after that since she wasn't trying to discourage him. He continues to grow into a wonderful boy. Nate and I are so proud of him.
Field day was an all day event of games between the classes. (Seriously, we were so deprived as kids.) I planned on going the entire time but decided to just pick up Austin an hour early from school and then go. I had been getting all these text messages with pictures of a smiling Rylan from one of his friend's moms. I get there and he's mad. He doesn't want a picture. He doesn't want to talk to anyone. He's mad because his class is loosing every time. He quietly tells me how bad his team sucks and no one is even trying. It didn't help that the other class had a chant when they won.
If you want to make him grin ask about Emily. She's the blonde next to him. ;)
End of school party. Actually held the day before the last day. After the awards ceremony they had a picnic and water activities. Water guns and water balloons were the crowd pleaser.
Rylan got the Tiger Paw school award for the first grade. He didn't seem fazed but I was so proud of him. It is for a student that best represents the school's motto. (being loyal, good friend, respectful....pretty much being awesome! :) ) He also got Most Respectful as his classroom award.
Charlie and Rylan. This is the boy we carpooled with this year. Charlie is a smaller, bookworm boy. He and Ry couldn't be any different. I was proud of Rylan because he stood up for Charlie at recess when they were playing sports and Charlie would get bullied by the other boys. Charlie's mom told me Rylan was so sweet and such a good influence on "boy activities" for Charlie. He may be rough but he is a sweet boy.

I am seriously rolling about him being mad about how much his team stinks.... LOL
