Visit from Korea

We had two Korean exchange students for 5 days the week before school started.   Our TaeKwonDo Master's (who is from Korea) friends that have their own TKD studios in Korea brought some students for a 3 week USA excursion.  We were their first stop, they also went to Miami and NYC.

Gun-Ho (11 years old) and Ye-Jun (13 years old).  Ye-Jun spoke better English, but neither spoke it very well.  Austin and Ye-Jun were fast friends and Ry and Gun-Ho were too.

Language barrier is no problem with trampoline and XBox.

I did all the American stereotypes.  Sparklers and Smores. They were in bed by the time it was dark enough.  And yes, Ye-Jun is taking a picture of his Sparkler.

Ye-Jun loved dressing up and playing with Austin.

We had football camp one of the nights so the boys joined.  I brought a soccer ball for them to play with during the camp.

Rylan's teammates played a little soccer before their camp started.

They asked when we were leaving because it was raining.  I said we don't leave until there is lightening.  Their eyes got big.  Nothing says crazy Americans more than watching football in the rain!

We took a trip to Monkey Joes.

They loved Fire House Subs.

And ended their stay at our favorite Rock Bridge.  They loved it!

Gun-Ho had gone up right before Ye-Jun and didn't understand how to get down.  Ye-Jun told him in Korean and he came down.  Ye-Jun went up and then froze.  He dint' want to come down.  He was too scared.  And since he was not a small child, the worker there couldn't go up because together they'd exceed the weight limit.  It only took 10 minutes but he did finally make it down.

The boys and some other random boys started a game of dodge ball.

The last day our TKD studio had a pool party for all of the families that had Korean kids so they could hang out.  We had our Master's wife tell all of our kids to give the Host Mother their dirty clothes to wash.  We got home and Gun-Ho handed me his clothes in a plastic bag (like walmart).  Ye-Jun comes out in his undies and hands me his clothes, THEN takes off his underwear and puts it on the top of the pile!  Austin walks in at this time and says "Dude, why do I see butt cheeks in my kitchen!"  I tell Austin to get Nate ASAP and to say ASAP when he tells him.  Nate goes and starts his shower and then comes to tell me to watch out Ye-Jun is naked in the kitchen.  I told him I knew that's why Austin came to get him.  And apparently our Korean kids were the only ones that walked around naked.  Yeah we give off that get naked vibe....

Saying goodbye
