Patient Ry

Rylan had tubes put in his ears last week before we left for Vegas. He has only had a few earaches his entire life. His biggest one and only one he has ever complained about was the week of Halloween. He came home from school in so much pain. I took him to urgent care, got medication for him. The next day he woke up with a wet ear and fluid all over his pillow. We later learned this is what happens when your eardrum blows out, but thankfully that wasn't the case for Ry.

The following month we had a parent/teacher conference and his teacher mentioned that he was having problems hearing. She noticed it after the major earache a few months earlier. We got him into an ear doctor. After testing they said he had fluid built up in his left ear which was causing hearing loss. The nerve was fine so once the fluid was gone he'd be fine. After Christmas we followed up with her to see if there was any improvements. There wasn't so we had to schedule tubes.

He did a great job. He had to go back alone and be put under and was so brave. When he got out he had cotton balls in his ears for a few hours. When he was able to take them out, his eyes lit up and he grinned that he could hear! We're all so happy he's able to hear normal again!

Not sure what to think of this gown. He couldn't quit grinning because he thought it was funny he was wearing a dress.

Daddy's point of view before he was rolled back.

Getting ready to go back.

Just a little out of it when he returned. ;)
