Fort Wayne or Bust

We went back to Indiana the week leading up to the 4th of July (days are a blur anymore). Mom, the boys and I braved an 11 hour trip to Fort Wayne. We made the trip to IN in one day, but took two days on the way home. I'm very glad mom and I went back for George's funeral services. It gave us both a lot of closure and it was wonderful to see his family (as well as our family) and reminisce about him. While we were up there I did get to see some old friends that I hadn't seen in awhile. We spent most of our down time with my high school and college friend, Sara. Her son Aiden just turned 6 so he isn't too much older than Rylan. Rylan loved him and always wanted to go back to Sara's house. She was gracious and watched the boys so I could go to the funeral home alone (even though I had to bring them back to see my family & George's family). I also stopped at my college roommate, Christina's house one evening. Visiting with them made the sad trip much more enjoyable.

Living it up in Sara's pool.

To wear the boys out the day we were leaving Sara took us to a splash park nearby. My mom had dialysis so we planned on staying there through nap time so the kids would fall asleep as soon as we got on the road. That planned backfired somewhat. The kids did fall asleep in the car right away, however we had to leave the park before my mom was finished so they slept in the car for an hour before we even started driving. The long week of no sleep and a lot of traveling caught up with Rylan and he melted down and NEEDED sleep. Thankfully Sara was there to help me from completely loosing it myself. Here are some pictures before the boys got too tired.
