Ready for Halloween!

Let the holiday fun begin! October 1st the boys were eager to help me put out the Halloween decorations. If they had it their way, we would have put them out the day after Rylan's birthday party. Here are a few of the few things we did this month.

Pumpkin Painting!

Making clay figurines.

The coveted carving of the pumpkins was completed this weekend. The boys have wanted to carve pumpkins since we bought them. Both boys drew their faces onto the pumpkin. Ry did the standard triangle eyes and nose with a mouth full of teeth. Austin first wrote his name across the pumpkin. I told him it was too small and I'd have to make it larger. The then changed to eyes in the shape of X and a huge mouth. He said the eyes are X's because the pumpkin is dead. In one of the Dr. Seuss books we have been reading the animals that are killed by hunters are stuffed and their eyes are X'd out.
This was the first year that both boys helped get clean out the pumpkins the entire time! What a difference a year makes! Rylan did awesome and worked on his with minimal help. I was proud of Austin for not quitting until it was done!
