Every parent gets to the day where they realize that their baby is no longer a baby. Sure Rylan is a kindergartner. Sure he lost his first tooth a month or so ago. Sure he has been referred to as our negotiator since he could speak. Sure the word NO has been a favorite of his to say for quite some time now, but still he was that little baby in my eyes. Well yesterday he proved that those baby years are long gone.
Picking up toys is a chore I don't really push on the kids. I know I should and I have good intentions, but by the time we're getting them into their baths I realize most of their toys are still all over the house. So I have been trying to make more of an effort to have them pick up after themselves as they are playing so we don't have to pick up everything at the end of the night. So last night we are outside playing and when it's time to come in I tell both kids to pick up their toys before coming in. Rylan's most recent response is "I have to pick up EVERYTHING!" Hmm, I don't remember every acting like that. ;) Anyway, Austin is picking up his toys and Rylan is still complaining about picking up the three toys he had played with. Then he says. "No fair, Daddy never has to pick up toys. I can't wait until I get married and don't have to do anything but play video games all day." After laughing I tell him that his wife probably won't let him play games all day. Poor Nate, tries to take a break from his honey-do list and gets a bad wrap for it. ;)
Onto Austin our 3 year old who thinks he is a 6 year old. This season both boys are on the same baseball team. Austin is by far the youngest, smallest and in turn the weakest player. But in his eyes he's the star. He tells his teammates, "Watch me. I know doing." (translation: I know what I'm doing.) And while they were racing to the bases and he clearly lost he said, "It ok. It just game." At least he has the confidence to play with the big boys.
LOL to Rylan's comment about Nate. HILARIOUS!
ReplyDeleteAustin is such a character. I love it. I imagine that is what Dad's personality would have been like at that age. :)
This is hilarious!! So funny I read it outloud to
ReplyDeleteBrandon and dad. We all got a kick out of it :)
