Nana-napping 101

What is Nana-napping you ask? It's when you tell your Nana you are going to pick her up for Thanksgiving with the intent of never taking her home. My Nana is 3 weeks away from turning 88, she lives alone in Hobart, IN and she refuses to let anyone move in with her or to go into assisted living. Even though she doesn't think she needs it, she does. Since Erin & I live states away, I knew we had to move her by us. The closest relative that helped her out is my great-uncle who is also in his 80s. So obviously, we had no choice here. So when I was back in Winamac in November cleaning out my mom's house, we told her she should come down to Erin's house with us for Thanksgiving. She asked if we were going to bring her home, and we just answered eventually. If you know Nana, you KNOW what a fete it is to get the woman to do anything she is against. She will fight you til the end. Even getting her out of the house was a chore.

She spent a month at Erin's with mom. I picked up her and my mom a few days before Christmas. She has been at my house now for a week. She does ask occasionally about going home but luckily she is easily distracted with Rylan & Austin so this has made things a lot easier. We are in the process of getting her into assisted living with near our house. She will probably go in the first of the year. And with hope it will be as painless as possible. Actually if you can take a minute to pray for us, we'd appreciate it. Lord knows, we will need all the help we can get.

Rylan enjoys her being here, because it is another person to play with him. Here is a video of Rylan playing a game on the computer with her. It was hilarious seeing my 3 year old teaching my Nana what buttons to hit. They enjoy racing cars & throwing the football. She's actually pretty quick, which made Nate & I wonder what happened to my mom? She is the opposite of quick. LOL
